Girl Talk Mashup

Girl Talk Mashup

This diagram clearly and understandably conveys the organization and structure of a complex musical composition.

Recipe Cards

Recipe Cards

I typeset a series of ten 5″ x 7″ lemon-themed recipe cards and designed a packaging solution to hold them as a set.

Interactive Resume

Interactive Resume

In an attempt to translate the dry, textual data of a resume into a more graphical form, I created this interactive resume prototype. It is an abstract engine whose content is populated by a user-customizable XML file.

By looking at the data in this manner, certain elements may float to the surface. For example, one can see the relationship between education and employment history over time. Someone who has held multiple positions for a short period will quickly reveal themselves.

Finally, the prototype has multiple modes: the graphical mode and the more traditional textual mode. A click of a button toggles between the two modes.

100 Emails From My Mother

100 Emails From My Mother

This infographic catalogs 100 email messages from my mother between July 2007 and December 2009. They are grouped according to their subject, annoying mothering habit, and gravity of the topic. The diagram also displays the subject of the message, date, number of days since my last visit, and an eyeroll rating.

Clothes

Clothes

A visual index all of my shirts, pants, suits, and jackets.

When we see people dressed on a daily basis, it’s like viewing them through a straw: we only glimpse a small fraction of the total representation of their selves.

The purpose of the project was to get a complete view of a person’s wardrobe and all of their sartorial tastes in one glance.

How a Web Developer Asks Someone Out

How a Web Developer Asks Someone Out

I was interested in a girl and becauseĀ 1) I’m a web geek and 2) didn’t have the cojones to ask this girl out face-to-face, I created this form and told her it was an important survey aboutĀ the website I’d been developing at the time.

Oh, she answered “yes.”

Massachusetts College of Art and Design

Massachusetts College of Art and Design

MassArt redesigned MassArt.edu and its sister site, Inside MassArt (the last redesign had been around 2002). Distribute authorship across campus via a content management system (which had already been selected prior to my arrival).

A design firm was chosen based on a response to an RFP and an interview. The project began in October 2007 and the sites launched in August 2008.

Design: Tank Design. Content management: Ingeniux Web CMS. Information architecture: Story and Structure.

Award: the American Marketers Association award for best higher education Internet/web site (MassArt.edu), October 2009.

Nielsen Gallery

Nielsen Gallery

The Nielsen Gallery, founded in 1963, is committed to exhibiting and supporting contemporary artists whose personal visions resist categorization. Note: As of June 30, 2009, the Nielsen Gallery has closed.

The gallery had managed its exhibitions, artist roster, publications, and available works through a series of static files. They wanted a content management system to handle the total lifecycle of their exhibitions.
