In an attempt to translate the dry, textual data of a resume into a more graphical form, I created this interactive resume prototype. It is an abstract engine whose content is populated by a user-customizable XML file.
By looking at the data in this manner, certain elements may float to the surface. For example, one can see the relationship between education and employment history over time. Someone who has held multiple positions for a short period will quickly reveal themselves.
Finally, the prototype has multiple modes: the graphical mode and the more traditional textual mode. A click of a button toggles between the two modes.

The graphic reveals that I’ve pursued a number of brief educational opportunities after getting my bachelor’s degree, and it displays a couple periods of unemployment.

Hovering over one of the bars triggers a pop-up window with details.

The second mode of the protoype displays a traditional, textual layout. Switching between modes is instantaneous.
