“Step to Hanukkah Lights” is a large-scale interactive menorah created in conjunction with Fish McGill and Andrew Ringler.
A webcam tracks the movements of passersby. When the system detects a person in front of a “candle,” a pulse of colorful light ripples outward.
Sponsored by the Jewish Arts Collaborative, it was on view in the Shapiro Courtyard at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, between December 14 – 30, 2016.
This was my and Fish’s second commission from the Jewish Collaborative Arts (JArts).
Dimensions: 20 ft. × 12 ft. × 3 ft.
